Katie Wood B.Sc.(Clinc.Sc),M.H.Sc.(Osteo)
Member Australian Osteopathic Association
Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Clinical Science and a Masters of Osteopathy in 2006, working in Sydney during her initial years as an Osteopath treating a wide range of patients from football players to professional musicians. Upon her return to Melbourne Katie joined The Clarendon Clinic in South Melbourne before moving a few streets away to join the Esolab team in 2015. It is here that she works as part of a great team of experienced allied and complementary health care professionals.
A strong clinical interest in the osteopathic management of pregnant women during both the antenatal and postnatal stages lead Katie to further her education, becoming a Registered Midwife in 2014. Katie currently happily combines her osteopathic practice with her casual midwifery practice.
Katie predominantly uses structural techniques such as soft tissue massage, muscle energy techniques and spinal manipulation to improve the structure and function of the body however she has had additional training in gentler, more indirect techniques which she is able to apply when required. Techniques are carefully and individually selected with the patient’s comfort always a priority. Katie strongly believes in the osteopathic principle that the body functions as a unit and so is focused equally on the patients physical, emotional and mental well being.
Outside of work Katie has three young children who keep her on her toes.
Katie’s areas of expertise include:
Pregnancy related conditions
Neck and shoulder dysfunction
Headaches and migraines
Lower back dysfcuntion
