What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a gentle form of hands-on therapy that recognises the important link between the body’s structure and function, treating the body as a whole. Osteopaths’s aim is to identify and treat the cause of your condition, not just your symptoms, supporting your overall wellbeing by working with the body structure to release tension, encourage healing and restore balance. As a result, your osteopath may look at the area of your body causing discomfort as well as other parts of your body. For example if you have a sore low back, your osteopath may also look at your mid back, hip, ankle or knee.

Osteopaths take a medical case history and perform a thorough assessment to provide you with an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of your condition. Osteopaths are also well trained to recognise conditions that require medical referral, ensuring you receive the best and most appropriate care.

At Grow Osteopathy, Katie is highly skilled and experienced in using a wide range of hands-on techniques. Techniques are carefully and individually selected with the patient’s comfort always a priority and may include:

Soft Tissue Massage

Joint Articulation

Gentle Joint Manipulation

Stretching

Dry-needling

Myofascial Release

Balanced Ligamentous Tension (BLT)

Exercise Prescription and Positive Lifestyle Advice

Kinesiology Taping

Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds and by Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans.
